OUR MISSION

5G is a revolutionary new technology that will allow for mobile internet speeds 100 times faster than 4G and will transform American society. Imagine downloading whole movies in a matter of seconds, doctors providing critical care over video in ambulances, and even the most remote parts of the country having the same lightning-fast internet as people from the biggest cities. The Federal Communications Commission has the opportunity to make this dream a reality through freeing up unused radio spectrum for 5G use, and what is called “C-Band” is perfect for this!

Unfortunately, a number of foreign satellite companies were given the right to use this spectrum for free of charge to benefit the US public, but never took real advantage of this. Now, they want to sell this spectrum, which rightfully belongs to the US taxpayer, for billions.

Find out more about why taxpayers should be compensated for this spectrum through a proper, independent, and transparent FCC auction.

C-BAND Spectrum: Myth vs Fact

Repurposing C-band spectrum for mobile broadband deployment will help America win the race to 5G, as other countries study repurposing their own mid-band spectrum for internet use. A number of groups, including the C-Band Alliance (CBA), claim that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) should allow for a “private-sale” of this critical segment of spectrum, instead […]

C-Band Alliance Misses the Mark: No Ownership Means No Sale

As the debate over the C-Band Alliance’s (CBA) intention to hoodwink the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in to allowing a group of foreign operated satellite companies to profit up to $60 billionon a crucial U.S. asset heats up, it’s important to remember one key fact: The foreign companies making up the C-Band Alliance do not own the spectrum, […]

Citizens Against Government Waste Puts a Price Tag of up to $60 Billion on Foreign Operators’ Taxpayer Rip Off

There is growing opposition to the C-Band Alliance’s (CBA) devious plan to hoodwink the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in to allowing foreign operated satellite companies to re-sell crucial mid-band (“c-band”) spectrum on the secondary market for 5G deployment. Coming on the heels of a coalition lettersigned by over one dozen taxpayers, consumer, free market and small […]

Foreign Satellite Operators’ Scheme is Bad for Taxpayers

The C-Band Alliance (CBA), a coalition of foreign operated satellite companies, is lobbying the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in hopes of convincing them to grant the authority to re-sell on the secondary market a crucial U.S. asset, mid-band (“c-band”) spectrum, for 5G deployment. While this may sound good on paper, this group of foreign actors […]

13 Free Market Groups Applaud FCC for C-Band Efforts

Taxpayers Protection Alliance partnered with thirteen additional free-market groups to send a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding their efforts to free up the 3.7 to 4.2 GHz Band (mid-band, or “C-band”) for internet services. Repurposing C-band spectrum for mobile broadband deployment will help America win the race to 5G, as other countries study repurposing their own mid-band spectrum for internet use. A number of groups, including the C-band Alliance (CBA), claim that the FCC should allow for a “private-sale” of this critical segment of spectrum, instead of having the FCC repurpose the spectrum to help close the digital divide.

CCAGW Applauds Sen. John Kennedy’s Fight Against Foreign Corporate Welfare

Today, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) applauded Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) for his support of a public auction for C-band spectrum, which would provide transparency to taxpayers and prevent U.S.-owned spectrum from being sold by foreign companies in countries like Luxembourg. Sen. Kennedy strongly advocated that the Federal Communications Commission pursue policies that put […]

FCC Chairman Pai discusses C-Band

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai was recently asked about C-Band spectrum at the America’s Communications Association summit. Here is the relevant extract (from the 14:35 mark): Moderator: Let me ask you about another important issue that we have been advocating. And that’s the c-band proceedings. Certainly its attracted lots of attention. Chairman Pai: So I hear.  […]

The FCC Shouldn’t Hand Control of 5G Spectrum to Foreign Operators

A coalition of foreign satellite companies hopes to convince the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to free up spectrum for 5G through private sales. But, that plan would put strategic American taxpayer assets in the hands of overseas businesses and slow the deployment of 5G wireless. The FCC is in the midst of freeing up as […]
